Head Teacher

Bear Park Henderson
Role Type: Full time

We are looking for a Head Teacher to oversee our Infant and Toddler rooms at Bear Park Henderson. Working primarily in our 1-2 year olds room, you will be part of an immediate team of five teachers with 18 children, but will be responsible for overseeing three rooms. Our Under 1s room has just 6 children (two teachers) and our 2-3 year old room has a maximum of 22 children (four teachers).

As our Head Teacher, you will be responsible for driving the engagement, and overall success of our teachers, the delight in our children, and the strength in our whanau relationships. With three hours of dedicated group planning time per week, plus additional non-contact time for your leadership responsibilities, this is a great opportunity to grow your skillset. Our experienced Centre Director spends a lot of her time on the floor working alongside teachers and is a fabulous mentor and support for all of our teaching team.

Our centre has a spacious and natural outdoor environment, offering space for children to be at one with nature. We encourage them to collaborate with staff and each other in our secret garden spaces and shared areas. We are passionate about developing an awareness of how to care for our environment, to support our children to be the Kaitiakitanga (guardians) of the natural world and have a strong focus on sustainability.

We are a supportive, helpful and caring team that work hard to help each other. Children always come first and we foster a collaborative and supportive centre culture.
