Last week we were delighted to welcome the team from Westpac Helicopter Rescue to our Bear Park HQ in Remuera. With the help of our parents and children, we’re able to help fund incredible initiatives like these to support the life-saving work they do!
Every year we decide to support an initiative that contributes to our community in New Zealand. Previously we have helped wonderful organisations such as Starship and Cure Kids where we have helped raise $80,000+ for children in need. This year, we looked at another avenue of community support that affects families as well as children. Life Flight rescue team is called upon when speed to a hospital is critical or when the location is remote or challenging. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter serves the lower North and upper South Island and supports our community on many missions. These flight missions include:
- Search and rescue
- Helicopter ambulance response
- Neonatal and paediatric missions
- Bomb squad mission
- Maritime Liaisons
- Urgent medical transfers
Bear Park has managed to raise an amazing $27,327 throughout our 11 centres – a massive thank you to the teachers, parents, and children who have helped contribute to this worthy cause. From silent auctions where items donated by parents and children’s artwork were sold to a musical CD, calendars and sustainable, eco-friendly products! Last week marked the occasion for everyone’s amazing effort! Thank you! Find out more about the Westpac Helicopter Rescue team and their incredible work here.
