Head Teacher Vacancy

Bear Park Infant and Toddler Centre and Preschool in Hobsonville is our newest centre housed in the historic Mill House building in Hobsonville Point. This beautiful waterfront property is set on an acre of park-like grounds with amazing sea views and serves the growing number of families in the area as a leading early learning centre.

Due to internal promotion, we have an opportunity for an experienced head teacher or a registered teacher looking for that next step in their career.  You will have daily support from a proactive, experienced and supportive senior leadership team.

As our head teacher, you will be the first point of contact for our teachers and families, including daily communication and guidance. You will work closely with our centre director and pedagogical team to coordinate the daily programme, creating inspiring learning environments and ensuring accurate documentation.

With inspiration from Reggio Emilia, our teachers have a passion for inspiring wonder, creativity, imagination and investigation, fostering children's hundred languages and unravelling their theories alongside them.

The richly resourced environment at Hobsonville provokes individual expression through open-ended learning experiences. Children are invited to freely explore and experiment while deep exploration in smaller groups are similarly encouraged. This combination allows every child to feel nurtured and supported in a learning journey that is unique to them.

Our outdoor environments are extensions of indoor ones and we actively encourage respect for the natural environment. Surrounded by maturing trees and a luscious garden, materials and resources have been carefully selected for their natural properties.

Our Teaching Team:

    • Ratios 1:3 infants, 1:4 toddlers, 1:6 / 1:7 preschool
    • 3 hours paid team planning time per week
    • Regular paid PD
    • Qualified teaching teams
    • Trips to Reggio Emilia for top performers (yes – in Italy!)
    • Experienced mentors
    • Leadership Development Programme

“Our working environment is respectful, it’s a place where you are supported, a place where you are challenged, a place where you are encouraged to do your best and acknowledged for your achievements.”

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
